How We Began

Rachel Gardner founded Urgent Care Down East in 2014 when she noticed a lack of immediate healthcare or available walk-in clinics. The closest urgent care facility to the rural area of Washington, NC, was over 45 minutes away. Rachel noticed that the nearest emergency room was being flooded with simple acute care needs, which told her that the area badly needed an immediate care facility.

Rachel has over 25 years of experience in the medical care field and has traveled all over the state of North Carolina. She decided to open the company to fill the lack of urgent care in the area to provide accessible and efficient immediate care for individuals.

Today, Rachel continues to provide same-day comprehensive and personalized care for those who walk in without an appointment.

Our providers at Urgent Care Down East are highly skilled to treat your illness or injury. They are tremendously caring people who will help you with any medical needs. We have six providers that will treat you when you come in with any illness or injury.

Josephine Del Rosario, MPAS, PA-C

Josephine “Josie” Del Rosario attended East Carolina University and received her undergraduate degree in Health Education & Promotion before completing her Masters at ECU in Physician Assistant Studies. Josie has loved working with the local community and has been a fixture at Urgent Care Down East since 2015.

Kristin L. Peterson, MHS, PA-C

Kristin Peterson completed her undergraduate degree at Tufts University in Massachusetts where she majored in Occupational Therapy. She later attended Duke University to get her Masters of Health Science. She has been working in the medical field for many years, often venturing to other countries to work and teach. Kristin enjoys working to keep her community healthy by assessing and listening to her patients’ needs. She joined the UCDE family in 2020.

Samantha Davis, FNP-C

Samantha Davis, FNP-C, has been with Urgent Care Down East since 2020. She attended the
University of Cincinnati to obtain her Family Nurse Practitioner certification. She is a great
sounding board for her patients and takes time to understand her patient’s concerns and needs.

Donald “Scott” Trower, FNP-C

Donald “Scott” Trower has been with Urgent Care Down East since 2023. He attended NOVA Southeastern University in Ft. Myers, FL to obtain his BSN and then transitioned to UNC Wilmington to obtain his Master of Science in Nursing. Scott comes from a large city in Florida and now enjoys the small-town life living and working in ENC. He says, “UCDE is the type of family run organization that I have always wanted to work for where patient care is the top priority.”

Alison Cieszko, PA-C

Alison joined UCDE in 2023. She attended East Carolina University to obtain her undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology. She also attended ECU for grad school. Born and raised in Eastern NC, she enjoys taking care of the small-town population. She treasures all the relationships she’s made with her patients and the medical community in ENC.

Mariah Satterwhite, MPAS, PA-C

Mariah attended NC State University to get her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology undergraduate degree. She then went on to attend Elon University in Elon, NC to complete her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree. She joined UCDE in 2023. Her favorite thing about working in medicine is being able to help others understand their bodies better through patient education.

Bryson Lee, MPAS, PA-C

Bryson Lee earned his Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree at Appalachian State University before attending Elon University to get his Master’s in Physician’s Assistant Studies. He joined the Urgent Care Down East family in 2022. Bryson has done internships in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, worked as a pharmacy technician, and has been a certified nursing assistant in gastroenterology. He enjoys working in the Urgent Care setting with the local community and seeing new patients every day.

Morgan Hancock, MMS, PA-C

Morgan earned her Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree from St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, NC. She then attended NOVA Southeastern University in Ft. Meyers, FL to receive her MMS in Physician Assistant Honors. She joined the UCDE family in 2023. She enjoys working with the community providing them medical services to give back to the small community she is from.
